About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to take ownership of our highly complex frontend, including a custom-built video editor that uses canvas-based rendering and web workers.

If you’re passionate about solving deep technical challenges and building innovative tech at a fast-paced startup, this is the role for you.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of experience with React and TypeScript.

• Experience working on complex frontend products, such as video editors, graphic tools, or projects involving canvas and web workers.

• Ability to maintain and improve clean, modular code in a monorepo environment.

• Proven ability to lead frontend projects involving real-time, interactive UIs.

Technology

At Clueso, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible across the entire stack, offering software engineers the opportunity to tackle cutting-edge problems while building a truly innovative product.

Front-end (React): This is no ordinary UI development role. We’ve built a fully functional video editor from scratch, using an entirely new way to render videos with effects via canvases instead of the typical HTML video tag. We've also built our own custom text edito on top of ProseMirror, and a Chrome extension to record your screen. You’ll also work with web workers to handle complex tasks efficiently. Every day, you’ll tackle challenging, novel interfaces that will stretch your creativity and problem-solving skills.

Backend (Python, Node.js): Our backend infrastructure is where complexity meets performance. If you thrive on tackling hard business logic problems, this is where you'll shine. We run complex video processing jobs that require micro-optimizations for compute and latency. You'll dive deep into the intricacies of encoding and decoding media, mastering the core challenges of compression, format conversion, and ensuring high-quality output at scale.

AI/ML: We’re pioneering AI pipelines that bring together large language models (LLMs), text-to-speech (TTS), and speech-to-text technologies. Plus, we're laying the groundwork for a computer vision stack to automate more aspects of video creation, giving you the chance to work at the intersection of AI and media technology.
