Architextures helps architects and manufacturers visualise materials. Our web application creates seamless textures, CAD hatches and PBR (physically-based rendering) maps for construction drawings and 3D models. We are building a digital material library for the world and are well on our way with more than 400,000 active users around the globe.
About you
You’ll be looking for a role where you can bring your existing skills to continue to develop the application as we scale. Our web app revolves around the ability to create stunning graphics, so being comfortable working with geometry and having an understanding of 3D rendering concepts will be beneficial.
You’re looking to show off your API skills, equally happy writing PHP as you are JavaScript, and learning new things is all in a fun day’s work. Our application currently uses:
Vanilla JS for main application logic
Threejs and HTML5 Canvas
PHP8 and MySQL for the backend
The opportunity to improve the product is there for the taking, and we've got a few architectural decisions to make together as a team. We have already been dealing with technical debt and there is still scope to improve the code base along with adding new features.
We have been improving our build pipelines, but we need more testing to ensure we don’t run into issues as we grow the team. You’ll be interested in building automated testing as part of your daily work.
The chances are you’ve got more than a few years under your belt with both PHP and JavaScript, as well as good exposure to Docker, Jira, Git, including GitHub Actions.
What interests you
You’ll have an eye for detail and interest in the world around you. You enjoy working collaboratively, travelling and exploring the work around you. We have a great space just outside the Glasgow City Centre, a short walk from Queen Street Station.
How we work
We’re a small team and like to get together often for office social events and trips. We're definitely not remote first, but we're not going to make you come into the office either. We have a four-day workweek that starts on Tuesday, so every weekend is a long weekend.
Our interview process
30-minute screening call with our fCTO
30-minute technical call (online; explaining some of your existing code)
60-minute interview (in person; a friendly Q&A session, and we’ll show you what you’re getting into)
Salary range: £50,000-70,000 plus package.
