Tech Lead - Engagement Tools

JOB OVERVIEW

Plan A Technologies is looking for an experienced Technical Leader to own and drive the technical vision, development, and maintenance of the frontend and engagement tools within a cloud-based application. The candidate will lead a team of developers and QAs, ensuring alignment with business goals while fostering technical excellence and team growth. This is a fast-paced job with room for significant career growth.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience leading teams and 7+ years as a Full stack to be considered for this role.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• Lead and mentor the team (developers and QA) that builds our engagement tools.

• Own all technical aspects of the engagement suite, making sure that it is aligned with our business goals and act as a point of contact for architecture and cross-functional initiatives. 

• Communicate and deliver the technical vision of our projects to the business at a high level and the team at an operational level.

• Understand the broader context of the team, build business domain knowledge on how the suite is used on production and help set the technical roadmap to ensure constant improvements in scalability, efficiency, security, observability and cost effectiveness.

• Scope complex tasks and projects, and break them down into smaller tangible tasks that can be easily taken up by others on the team.

• Ensure the quality of the team’s deliveries, making sure all changes are duly covered by comprehensive testing.

• Partner with Product and Project managers and other technical Team Leads to help with decisions around prioritization, execution, work division, planning, goal setting, tech-debt management, etc.

• Work with developers and QAs to grow their technical, interpersonal and leadership skills and to ensure they have the right challenges and necessary context to use them.

• Help make the team stronger by leveraging (or introducing) frameworks and practices around project management, technical decision making, communication practices, etc.

• Be responsible for recruitment, retention and effectiveness of the team.

• Lead incident management efforts around engagement tools, from investigation to resolution.

• Actively contribute to the codebase collaborating with other tech teams.

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

• 5+ years leading software engineering teams in a high paced environment.

• 7+ years of experience in the development with a solid mixture of backend and frontend skills.

• Knowledge of cloud computing and experience working with GCP, AWS or Azure (GCP is preferred).

• Relational DBs (MySQL is a plus) and NoSQL DBs.

• Working knowledge of Java, Spring, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, CI/CD (Gitlab CI / Jenkins).

• A proper understanding of the skills required in working in a remote environment, leading and communicating with people spread across multiple countries.

• Experience in the iGaming industry is highly desirable.

• Working knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Pixi.js (is a big plus) or any other canvas frameworks.

• Working experience with high volume, high availability systems or/and user facing systems would be a big advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

• Initiative and drive to do great things.
